Moving Sucks

Twelve hours of moving on Saturday wasn't fun. Twelve hours of moving on Saturday with friends was pretty great. I don't know what I would have done without them. They are truly, truly champions. My new place is great, and I'm all moved in and my stuff is unpacked. I've just got buying things to do now, and that's a different kind of unfun. Getting new things is a pretty good way to counteract the spending of the money, and shopping is kinda neat as well.

Seriously about those friends though. I can't express how appreciative I am of them, even if one became crippled, one carried all the hardest loads (pillows), and the other threw me into the maw of a black widow's nest.

Super System Savers Six

An alien came to Earth looking for a hero. He learned our languages and our ways the best he could in the short amount of time he had. After crunching data and checking with his superiors, he sent out emails to all people who had the word 'hero' in their address.

He got some responses.

You'd be surprised to hear, I know, that this is how the team responsible for defending our solar system was put together, but it's true. Really.

Watercolor and Writing Contests

I played with watercolor paint yesterday. It's probably been more than ten years since I've done that. I enjoyed myself a lot. Today, when I was buying some paper for inking, I also bought some watercolors. We'll see if I use them very much.

A friend linked me a flash fiction contest. You can submit two stories that are one-hundred words or less. The contest closes November 23rd, so I think I'm going to try to get down two entries before November starts. A story that short seems like it wouldn't be too time consuming, but I've already spent a lot of time mulling over some stuff. I've got one idea, and am working on some more.

NaNoWriMo is coming up here sooner than later too. Not sure if I want to partake again, because it took a lot out of me last time, but we'll see. I want to start planning soon if I'm going to.
